Meet the team

  • Michael B Bennett

Michael leads a team of professional accountancy experts and has overall responsibility for the services his practice delivers. He assists individuals, sole traders, partnerships and companies with strategic business advice, accountancy services and with all aspects of taxation.

Michael qualified as an accountant in 1991, and became a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in 1996. He started his own practice in 1997 and over the years has seen his client base grow to over 1,300.

He also lectures to final year students at many colleges, helping prepare them for the real world. He’s a regular speaker at the annual conferences of the College of Podiatry.

‘In the little spare time I have, I enjoy the occasional round of golf to shake off the cobwebs, and music is really very important to me. I spend my working life using my brain, so when I do have some down time my greatest pleasure is to do something manual. I love making intricate models – in card, in wood and in plastic and metal.’

  • Sharon Citron

Sharon is the focal point of the whole practice. She controls workflow and keeps tabs on everything that’s going on in our busy office, making sure that nothing is left to chance and that our whole operation runs smoothly, day in, day out. As if that weren’t enough, she organises Michael and his diary.

  • Shuveta Sethi

Shuveta – located in our Manchester office – is the main point of contact for our clients north of Birmingham, especially our large medical clientele. Her main responsibility is to process accounts from start to finish – from prep, to tax calculations, to final returns. She’s become a vital support for many of these businesses, a point brought home to us very clearly when she spent a year on maternity leave!

She holds an honours degree and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA).

‘I used to be a competitive swimmer and a tennis player, and when my toddler gives me time off for good behaviour, I like to spend at least some of it regaining the levels of fitness I once enjoyed! Of course, he’s happy when I can spend time playing with him – everything from therapeutic messy play to music! I’m also an adventurous baker and I just love trying out recipes that I haven’t attempted before.’

  • Wil Ames

Wil spends most of his time looking after our sole trader and individual clients – compiling accounts and completing personal tax returns. He’s also responsible for filing limited company accounts, and helping with payroll. And if you call with a query, you’re quite likely to speak to Wil – he handles many of our client conversations.

He has an impressive clutch of qualifications from the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers – all with pass-marks in the upper 90s – and he’s certified to use Sage payroll and accounts packages. He’s not resting on his laurels though – and is planning to embark on the formal study route to chartered accountancy.

‘Outside of work, it’s just motorbikes all the way. You could say I was obsessed with them!’

  • Deepa Singh

Deepa handles accounts prep for our sole trader clients and tax returns for our individual clients.

She grew up in New York, but swapped the Big Apple for Beautiful Barnet a few years ago. She been with us since 2013.

‘I’m a good match for our alternative medical therapy clients. I practise yoga and I’m generally interested in health and in complementary medicine of all kinds.’

  • Carol Bowman

Carol is our reception manager. She’s also responsible for making sure your limited company annual return is filed with Companies House safely and in time – vital because a late return attracts a fine.

She also looks after a variety of essential admin tasks – posting welcome packs to new clients, invoicing, and keeping important information at Companies House and HMRC properly up to date.

‘Any spare time I have – and it’s not much because my two teenagers keep me pretty fully occupied – I like to spend relaxing in restaurants, or walking, or enjoying a well-earned holiday! I’m actively involved raising money and running events for a charity.’

  • Marc Citron

Marc has been our payroll specialist since 2006 – and if you take up our payroll services you’ll be in his capable hands, supported by Wil Ames, who deputises for him on this activity essential to all businesses who rely on us to tell them how much to pay their staff. He also looks after VAT returns and keeps our vital computing systems running smoothly.

‘I love cooking, something my wife is very happy about! Relaxing for me is all about sport – I play golf, and I’m a fully paid up Gooner. I grew up in Bournemouth and was delighted at my old football team’s success in the 2014/15 season. Oh – and there’s Star Trek. In another life, I’d be aboard The Starship Enterprise boldly going where no accountant has gone before!’

  • Kasia Dragan

Kasia has her own accountancy practice and provides us with a range of services at times of pressure.

She came to the UK with an accounting degree from her home country of Poland and worked with us while she was training for her membership of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

  • Nitu Shah

Nitu looks after accounts prep, corporation and personal tax returns, and assists our clients with their accounting software. She specialises in retail, property development and investment, antiques businesses, hospitality companies and medical practices.

She holds a bachelor’s degree (BCommerce) from the University of Bombay and she’s a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. She has worked in accountancy since 1998 and with our practice since 2013.

‘In my spare time I love to travel, and visiting new places is always top of my list. A big part of that for me is sampling new cuisines – and then trying out the recipes on my family.’
